Henry Rail (called in german Henry Riggle) being duly sworn deposeth & saith as adminstrator of George Rial (called in german George Riggle) that the within is a true & perfect inventory of the estate personal of the deceased to the best of his knowledge & belief.

I Henry Rail or Reggle considering the unsertenty of mortal life and being of a sound mind and memory blesed by God for the same do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner as following that is to say first I give and bequeath to my Niece Elisa Richard Daughter of Michael Richard the sum of one hundred dollars which is to paid when she becomes of age I give and bequeath to my Nephew John Richard son of Michael Richard his heirs and assigns all that mesuage[?] and tainments of land lying situated and being in the county of Seneca Town of Fayett which is part of the lot No 28, in the Cayuga Reservation containing one hundred and thirty three achers and thirtyone Rhods to have and to hold to him the said John Richard his heirs and assigns forever the deed of which, he is to have when he becomes of age The above mentioned land is to be rented out till that time and half the money arising from the rent after the above mentioned one hundred dollars given to my Neice Elisa is to be paid out of it and his legacy on sum shall be to raise the said John Richard and give him schooling if he stays under the care and directions of my lawfull executer and if not it is to be given to him when he becomes of age. and lastly the rest residue and remainder of my goods and chattles namely the other half of the rent of the land and the all the money and notes besides all the loose and moveable property not mentioned I give and bequeath to Martin Draisback living in East Buffalo Union county Pensylvania state trustee the Evangelical Church or his successors in the office of trustees which goods and money is to be for the use of the Evangelical Church and if the children or either of them namely John or Elisa Richard should die before they became of age the land and money that I have bequeathed to them or either of them I give to the above mentioned Martin Dreisback or his successors in the office of trustees for the use of the Evangelical Church. and I hereby appoint Christian Woolf of Seneca County sole executer of this last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made in writings whereby of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 15 Day of february 1827

Before Jehiel H. Halsey Surrogate of said county.

Whereas the last instalment arising from the sale of the real estate of Charles Bachman deceased, secured to be paid to the surrogate of the county of Seneca, by the bond and mortgage of Peter Pontius, has this day been paid and the security? amounting to the sum of Eight hundred nine dollars ninety five cents; - And whereas the costs and charges of distributing the same amount to the sum of forty dollars and forty five cents, leaving the sum of seven hundred sixty nine dollars fifty cents to be distributed among the children, next of kin to the said Charles Bachman deceased; it is therefore ordered, that the same be distributed to the said children in the manner following, to wit:

To Sterling G. Hadley, surrogate of the County of Seneca:

The Petition of William Reigle & David Reigle respectfully showeth, that Jacob Reigle late of Fayette departed this life in the town of Fayette on the 27th day of December in the year 1858 having previously, as your petitioners are informed and believe, duly made and executed his last will and testament. That your Petitioners are named there as executors thereof. That said deceased was a citizen of the United States, and was at, or immediately previous to his death, an inhabitant of the County of Seneca, in the State of New York; and that his said last Will and Testament relates to Real & personal estate.

Your Petitioners further show, that the heirs and next of kin of the said Jacob Riegel deceased, with their respective places of residence as far as the same can be ascertained, are as follows:

To the Surrogate of the County of Seneca

The Petition of Mary Reigle of the town of Varick in the County of Seneca respectfully showeth

That Benjamin Reigle of the town of Varick in the said County of Seneca died in the said town of Varick on or about the twenty second day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty six That at the time of his death he was an inhabitant of the County of Seneca That he left no will, as far as your petitioner has heard, or been able to discover: That he left your petitioner his widow;

Maria King, wife of Lorin G. King, Varick;
Jacob L. Reigle a son, Varick;
Moses Reigle a son with petitioner in Varick;
Rosannah Reigle a daughter S.F.;

And your petitioner further showeth, that all the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased do not exceed in value the sum of Five Hundred Dollars; and your petitioner prays that Letters of Administration of the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased may be granted by the Surrogate to your petitioner, and Jacob L. Reigle her son

To the Surrogate's Court of the County of Seneca:

The petition of Elizabeth Riegel, Wm. W. Riegel, and Susan M. Reed of the town of Seneca Falls and of Henry J. Riegel town of Seneca Falls County of Seneca and State of New York, respectfully sheweth:

That William Riegel late of the town of Seneca Falls in the County of Seneca aforesaid, departed this life on or about the 30th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty three

That the said deceased was at the time of his death an inhabitant of the said county of Seneca

That said deceased left a Last Will and Testament which is dated the 27th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty one and a codicil thereto dated the 26th day of March 18__ that in and by said will the deceased nominated and appointed your peititoners Wm. W. Riegel and William Reed executors thereof:

That the said deceased left a widow the said Elizabeth Riegel and the following heirs and next of kin, to wit:

William W. Riegel and Susan M. Reed severally residing in the town of Seneca Falls Seneca County NY and Henry J. Riegel residing in the town of Seneca Falls Seneca County N.Y.

That said widow also resides in said town of Seneca Falls That the said Wm. W. Riegel, Henry J. Riegel & Susan M. Reed, are children and the whole of the children of said deceased. That each said heirs at law & next of kin is of full age & of sound mind.

That said Will relates to both real and personal Estate, the estimated value of which is about $13000, as your petitioners are informed and believe.

That your petitioners are desirous of proving said last Will and Testament as a Will of real and personal estate, that the same my be recorded as such, in pursuance of the statute in such case made and provided. Your petitioners therefore pray the Surrogate's court aforesaid, that a citation be not issued to said heirs-at-law and next of kin, requiring them to appear in this Court on such a day as to this Court shall seem meet to attend the probate of said last Will and Testament but that said will be admitted to probate on the usual proofs forthwith, and that such proofs be taken forthwith and without any further or other proceedings or process herein, and said petitioners hereby submit themselves respectively to the jurisdiction of this Court, the same as though citations had been issued and served for the probate of said will.

Elizabeth Reigle Wolf Runyan, 1814-1893


The Last Will and Testament of Elizabeth Runyan of the town of Fayette County of Seneca and State New York.

I, Elizabeth Runyan aware of the uncertainty of life, do make, ordain, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament, in manner and form following, that is to say:

After the payment of my funeral charges, the expense of administering my estate, and my lawful debts, I give, devise and bequeath my property as follows:

First: I will, devise give and bequeath to my nephew William P. Riegel the home or homestead farm in the town of Fayette, Seneca county, New York on which I now reside, and which adjoins on the west the farm now occupied by him - being the same farm formerly owned by my father, and containing fifty seven acres or thereabouts of land, for him my said nephew to have and hold the same absolutely and in fee forever.

Second: All the rest, residue and remainder of my property and estate of every kind I direct to be divided among and given to my nephews and nieces as follows: Henry J. Riegel, Emma Elliott, John J. Riegel, Phillip Riegel, Albert Riegel, Charles Riegel, Margaret Watling, Matilda Weber, Frances Shiley, Anna Hill, Elizabeth Stringham; Laura Riegel, Caroline Beers, Clarence Reed, and Cora Peck, the same to be equally divided among the said persons share and share alike, and I will and bequeath the same accordingly.

Third: I give my executors or the survivor of them full power and authority to sell and convey, and until sold to lease, any and real estate of which I may die seized.

Likewise, I make, constitute and appoint my nephew William P. Riegel and Jasper N. Hammond my attorney to be executors of this may last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.

In witness Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the 21st day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety one.

The petition of William P. Riegel of Fayette, Seneca Co., N. Y., and Jasper N. Hammond of Seneca Falls, Seneca County N. Y. respectfully shows:

That Elizabeth Runyan died on the 6th day of February 1893 at Fayette in the County of Seneca, and State of New York, leaving real and personal property within your county, and leaving a will of real and personal property, bearing date 21st day of December 1891, executed as prescribed by the laws of the State of New York in which will your petitioners William P. Riegel and Jasper N. Hammond are designated as executors.

That the said testatrix was at the time of her death a resident of the said County; that the said testatrix left her surviving no husband, and that the following are all the heirs and all the next of kin of the said testatrix, and all persons who would take any interest in any of the real or personal property of deceased under, and the executors and trustees named in said will and their respective places of residence:

That your petitioners are informed and believe that Perry Riegel a nephew of deceased, died leaving two children at Auburn N. Y., but that your petitioners are unable to find such children at Auburn or elsewhere, and are also unable to ascertain the names of any of such children, after diligent search and inquiry or their place of residence.

That no petition for probate of said will has been filed in any surrogates court. That you petitioners are informed and believe that the real estate of said decedent does not exceed in value the sum of $8725, and that the personal estate of said decedent does not exceed in value the sum of $300.

That all of the above named parties to be cited are, as your petitioners are informed and verily believe of the age of twenty one years and upwards and are of sound mind except the said Charles Albert Ten Winkel who is a minor and your petitioners also state that they have not information sufficient to form a belief as to whether or not the said children of Perry Riegel are of full age or of sound mind.

Your petitioners therefore pray that the said will may be proved in due form and that the said heirs & next of kin of said testatrix and all persons who would take any interest in any of the real or personal property of deceased under, and the executors & trustees named in said will, may be cited to attend the probate thereof.
